18thc Anglo Indian Box W/great Brass Mounts Picture(s) and Description:

An unsusual eighteenth century box that I believe to be Anglo Indian.It is made of an unidentified wood and has extensive mounts and decoration in brass.The box measures 14.25" wide,11.25" deep and about 9" to the top of the lid.It has a till on the interior,heavy lock and a handle on top so it may have been used for important documents or travel.Notice the hearts in the brass decoration along the top and some of the other brass work forms heart shapes in the negative areas.Condition is good and it appears that someone refurbished the box at some point.The hasp is broken but still with the box.There is a small piece of brass trim missing beside the lock and two corners of the lockplate are broken and missing.The decorative brass elements are missing on both sides and beside the hinges in back.There may have been a brass band around the bottom originally.One of the hinges has a small loss at the bottom and both are missing a pin.The bottom has an old replaced piece of wood that is about 1" x 4".The color of the wood is very nice and the box has a great look.Shipping will be 20.00 in the US and 50.00 international.
