19C FRENCH BACCARAT CRYSTAL CASKET BOX PAW FEET ORMOLU Picture(s) and Description:

I am delighted to offer this truly GRAND and RARE Extra LARGE, late 19th Century (possibly early 20th Century) French cut crystal jewelry casket, or jewel box. The crystal is set in dore bronze or gilt brass mounts that have a repeating leaf and vine pattern. There is a warm aged patina to the mounts. There is a fancy escutcheon lock, though the key has gone missing, and the box is set on four large winged paw feet! The box is HUGE, measuring approximately 7 inches wide by 6 inches high, and 5 1/2 inches deep.The box has a heavy duty piano type hinge, that opens and closes precisely. The crystal has several different, expertly cut and polished patterns. Please take time to enlarge the photos, and to ask any questions before bidding. The is a wonderful box, that has been lovingly cared for, for many years. I can see no chips, cracks or repairs. This box is sure to be the centerpiece of any French antique collection.. The bottom panel has the signature starburst pattern. A box of this caliber does not come along often, and certainly not in such wonderful condition! Dont Miss it!
