A French Porcelain Gilt Metal Scenic Box Cupid Chariot Picture(s) and Description:

A rare, French porcelain & gilt metal dresser box (jewelry casket). This is a Sevres style box. It is octagonal in shape & decorated with an artist signed scene of Classical lady figures drawing a chariot bearing Cupid (Amor, Cherub) with his bow. It is painted on a cobalt blue ground with thickly painted gold garlands. Both the top & bottom of the inside are decorated with different flowers. The gilt metal fittings are embossed & there is a seashell (shell) shaped clasp. Two similar boxes were auctioned at Heritage Auctions in April 2007 realizing $2,200.00 & $1,792.50 plus buyer's premium.

It measures about 6" (15 cm.) x 6" (15 cm.) x 2 3/4" (7 cm.).

It is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, scratches or stains. Bid now! You are not spending, you are investing.

It has a red back stamp of a crowned wreath flanked by 2 stars that reads "CHATEAU DES ETIOLES" (Chateau of stars) over "LS". The painting on the lid is artist signed "EDWARD".
