AAFA Stack of 4 Pantry Boxes in Old Blue Paint 19th Cen Picture(s) and Description:

Stack of 4 19th Century Pantry Boxes in Old Blue Paint What can I say about this stack of blue pantries, other than they are truly fabulous! These early pantry boxes have old, perhaps original paint. The color is a medium blue, and is very dry, and well oxidized with the wear that you would expect to see in very old paint. They are medium to thick walled, and were made in New England around 1850. They measure as follows: 10 1/2" x 5"; 9" x 4 1/2"; 8 1/4" x 3 3/4"; and 6 3/4" x 3", making them a perfect graduated stack. They are held together with metal tacks and wood pegs. The condition of the boxes is very good. The smallest has a pencil mark on the interior of the lid which I can't make out - probably either the owner's name, or the contents of the box. There is a split on the side of the lid where a nail has come out. The tops of the lids on the two largest ones have some age shrinkage, so you can see a little daylight at the edge. There is an old sliver missing from the seam of the 9" one, visible only when the lid is off, and a small sliver off the very bottom of the seam. There are small splits around 2 pegs on the lid of the largest one. These are very minor issues, and mentioned only in the interest of complete disclosure. The paint is the best feature of these boxes! It has that mellow softness which only age can create, but it is still a good strong blue. Sold separately, these could each bring $200+, but I would like them to stay together, so it's all 4 for one price. AAFA AAFA means Antique Americana and Folk Art and is used as a short cut to finding items that are true antiques, not reproductions, and are American. Simply search on AAFA and find all types of American antiques. But you need to be careful to read the description in full. Some Ebay sellers use the designation for reproductions and for items that are questionably American, or do not truly represent folk art or Americana. We guarantee that all of our items are as described. We will only use the AAFA designation for items which fit the criteria. Bid with confidence! We guarantee everything we sell as described! Returns Most of our items are antique or vintage, and show evidence of prior use. We describe all of our items to the best of our ability, pointing out all flaws or damage noted. We will gladly accept a return if the description is not accurate, and will refund the price paid for the item. Buyer pays for shipping of returns, which must be received within 5 days of receipt of the item by the buyer and in the same condition as was sent by the seller. We are happy to answer any and all questions, so feel free to ask before bidding. Payment Payment is due within 5 days of the end of the auction. Paypal is preferred. Shipping We pack carefully and do not inflate shipping charges – you pay only what it costs to ship . If the shipping charges seem high to you please email us for an exact quote. The shipping calculator is sometimes off. We refund excess shipping charges of more than $1.
