Antique converted Standard sewing machine cover box. Picture(s) and Description:

Here is a wooden cover box from an antique "Standard" sewing machine. I converted it into a useable box by putting a wooden bottom in it and cutting under the edge molding and attaching mini brass hinges to make a lid. See the 3ed photo. It is some sort of dark hardwood - walnut I think. It has also been refinished but the old black & gold "Standard"label was left alone and is still intact. So is the metal catch button as can be seen in the 4th photo. It was refinished long enough ago that it's become a bit dusty & could use a light polish. I put a lot of work into it and have never used it. It measures about 10" tall, 16.25" wide and 10.25" deep. The last photo shows some of it's old "patina issues, wear on the edges and what;s missing of the edging. Apparently Ebay's shipping calculator was created on MARS, so if you have a question about an accurate shipping estimate, please ask me in a timely manner for me to respond, this applies especially to bidders outside of the continental USA. BY BIDDING ON THIS AUCTION, THE WINNER AGREES TO THESE TERMS: All sales are final so please ask questions in a timely manner before bidding - in the last 12 hours before the listing ends, sometimes I am unable to post a reply due to some sort of ebay interference.. No refunds. I am not an expert or a dealer, just trying to get rid of stuff. It's really neat old stuff but it aint perfect fer cryin' out loud. OK, this is just absurd - eBay will no longer allow us to offer insurance at the buyer's discretion. I used to say, "The wining bidder pays actual shipping cost, insurance is extra at the buyer's discretion." NOW those boneheads expect us to call the insurance added a "Handling Fee," and add that to every package regardless of the buyer's wishes. As far as I'm concerned, that's completely dishonest and I will not force everyone to pay extra for what they may not want. I'm sure it's no coincidence that pressuring sellers to pad the price to cover the cost runs up the final price and then EBay gets more for their slice of that final price. EBay also forbids me to say that I am not responsible for a package once it leaves my hands at the Post Office!! I am surely not going to tack on the cost of an airline ticket to hand deliver anything and I do not have amazing powers of mind control over postal workers to make them behave. I'd suggest using your credit card through paypal and use their insurance or emailing me if insuring an item is a concern. Remember, a "Fragile" stamp means "underhand throws only" to mail handlers. If you don't want to pay too much for the USPS's already exorbitant postage fees, please wait for an invoice to see what it will really cost since my crystal ball is out of order and I won't know what the postage will be until I know where it's going. I am always happy to combine items for shipping if I can safely squeeze it all into one box.
