The bowl itself measures 6 in diameter by 4 ¾ tall, not counting the two wonderful, curved handles. These handles were dovetailed into the rim of the bowl. I didn't notice at first, but there is a very old 19th century, smooth repair to the corner of one handle, which you can see in my last two photographs. There are no other problems or repairs to this early covered box. The height to the top of the well turned, Sheraton period finial is 7 ½. When the high bidder gets this bowl in their hands and sees the original untouched finish, I know they will be very pleased.
