A beautiful and guaranteed antique wooden tea caddy, a large example and in amazing condition for its probable age ca1920s. Not sure of the woods used however there's a mix of a very thick ply and a honey coloured light wood much like a huon pine. The hinges are original and in excellent condition. The identification of this as a tea caddy is confirmed by the standard feature of two matching compartments, a traditional caddy form dating as far back as the seventeenth century, Black tea was stored in one side, green tea the other. What this humble caddy lacks in opulence and refinement it makes up for in folkish, rustic charm, and would be a lovely addition to a vintage kitchen or country style kitchen display. This would of course be a great functional item at the same time for storage of whatever one wished- even tea (bags?!)

A stable crack down the backing board to one side, wood is still stiff not split right through. No other faults. Inside could do with a thorough clean before any use.
