Up for auction is this superb Chinese porcelain blue and white porcelain covered box. The box is very finely painted with rich underglaze cobalt color. On the cover is a elegant reserve of flowers with scrolling and flowers around the outside of the box. The underside of the box has a six character Xuande mark but most likely dates to the late 17th to early 18th century, Kangxi period. The foot rim is snow white and extremely smooth to the touch. The base of the box has a firing line on the rim with a single line extending from it. It has been pictured. The cover of the box has a couple small firing lines done in production. There are no chips or restorations. The box measures 6.5 inches across.
