This masterful repouss silver box is entirely reticulated and its complete design is dedicated to the underwater world. Countless creatures of the sea are meticulously rendered in various heights of relief. We see various fish, crabs, shells, and lobsters amidst a dense arrangement of water plants.

Dating back to the 18th century, this rare lidded box is a must for the discerned collector of Chinese period silver. It was most certainly used as a scent box or parfumier.
