This is a very nice antique case or box for a John Poole marine chronometer or ships deck clock. It has an ivory plaque that reads JOHN POOLE, 57 Fenchurch Street LONDON. No. 2956. I believe it to be from the 1850's -1860's era. It is in great condition, especially when you consider its age. It is wooden(maybe walnut?) with brass trim and handles. It is about 7" x 7" x 7-1/2" tall. I do not have the key for the brass locking mechanism, and it is not locked. The brass push button release for the top lid latch works fine. The ivory plaque has a chip at one of the screws. Shipping with up to $300.00 insurance by USPS Parcel Post would be $20.00, and $43.00 by Priority Mail. Will ship in a large box with lots of padding. Payment by Paypal within 6 days of the auctions end. Shipments to the U.S. only. Thanks for looking.
