RADIUM RADIA, EMBOSSED QUACK MEDICINE WITH LABEL, CONTENTS AND BOX, LOS ANGELES, CA. WESTERN MEDICINE Desirable, rare, embossed, clear medicine bottle, 5 1/2" x 2" x 1 1/4", smooth base, rectangular base with rounded front panel, BIMAL, square collar lip embossed RADIUM / RADIA // Mint with label. Label is pink, green, gold, white & black, 100%, very good condition with minimal light dirt/foxing on label, not noticeable or detracting. blue & black box, great condition and complete with some content stain on back top of box and box top...displays near mint. Red wax seal over cork and lip with some small pieces missing as pictured (these are present, separate and inside box). Wax is fragile. See pictures. No chips or cracks. Ca. 1900. Label states "Radium Radia. For External Application Only." picture of man before and after using medicine. "Never Known to Fail. Radium Radia Co. Los Angeles, Cal. 13 W. 26th St. N. Y. City. Price $1.00." "The World's Greatest Remedy. For the Cure of Rheumatism, Neuralgia, Sciatica, Lumbago, Sprains, Backache, Headache, Gout, and all pains in the Limbs, Chest and Throat." This medicine capitalized on the "curative" powers of Radium, a recently discovered element at that time (Madame Curie of France). I have checked this with a Geiger Counter with no radioactive properties and no danger to owner. The contents are a red-orange color, I presume to suggest a "glow". I sold one of these 4 months ago for $675. This is the last one I have. Don't miss the opportunity to own one of the most attractive labeled medicines, complete with box!
