RARE ANTIQUE MARQETRY WORK & MOTHER OF PEARL SEWING BOX For sale is this beautiful old wooden sewing basket. It has been made using marquetry with inlaid pieces of mother of pearl forming intricate geometric designs. The amount of work and time taken to make it must have been enormous.

It measures 30cms across and is 8cms high and is in good original condition. Some of the mother of pearl is missing, mainly from the lid as well as a few small pieces of wood from the inner raised lid design, but these could easily be replaced.

The inner material has come away from the edge in some places and has some areas of fading and the key is missing, but the inner marquetry design is as new. The lock is a little bent but is original.

A beautiful and rare item which would look even more stunning if restored to its former glory.
