What are you looking for ?

Older, stamped "Japan", Japanese puzzle box. It is 7 1/8" long by 3 3/8" tall by 4 7/8" wide. I am guessing it is from the 30's or 40's with the stamped "Japan" mark. From what I read on the internet, I thought it was a standard size or 5 sun. But I saw someone else had identical size for sale and called it a 6 sun. You, as the expert on puzzle boxes, will know which is correct.

I did manage to get it open but have no idea how many moves it took me as I really did not know what I was doing. I started with the four slats on each end, then moved the one end up and then the other down, and then back and forth for awhile gradually getting the top open. It took me quite a lot of moves, but as stated, I am not very knowledgable about these boxes.

One side has a scene with Mt. Fuji, a house, pine tree and boat on a lake. The opposite side has a red flower. an orange flower and a butterfly.

Box is vintage, and as such shows some wear in the form of light scratches and a couple of medium depth scratches. Its overall appearance is quite nice, it does not show abuse. There are fine scratches on the red rose (see picture), and a few spots were lacquer or varnish coating is worn. One of the end slats will actually move farther out than it the others (pictured) but it does not seem to cause any problems.
